Airtel introduces new plan at Rs 597 for 6 Months
However this plan is a bit different from most plans which telecom companies are offering at this point of time. The focus of this plan is on voice calling and not data usage.
It is a long-term prepaid plan to compete with BSNL and Jio, who have similar offerings. However, according to reports, Airtel may not roll out the plan nationally and only selected circles are likely to get a chance to avail it. Reports indicate, this plan will have unlimited calling option, free 100 sms per day and 10 gb free data. Hence, it is clear. Airtel is not targetting the market which is looking for heavy data usage. It is likely to be rolled out in 2nd and 3rd tier cities. The primary target is users who need to be calling for a long period of time.
This plan looks to counter Jio’s Rs 999 and BSNL’s 786 pans. However, Jio’s plan offers 60 gb data, which gives it an edge. This is the second long-validity prepaid plan from Airtel in recent times. Earlier, in February it had launched a similar plan costing Rs 995.
