Route Summariation in CCNP
Route summarization is a technique also called route aggregation or supernetting which can reduce the number of routes that a router must maintain to reach a certain destination, because it is a method of representing a series of network numbers in a single summary address it is therefore said as summarized.
Advantages of Summarization
Summarization allows you to create a more efficient routing environment by providing
the following advantages:
■ It reduces the size of routing tables, requiring less memory and processing.
■ It reduces the size of updates, requiring less bandwidth.
■ It contains network problems.
.Route summarization is taking a bunch of contiguous network numbers in a routing table and reducing
them to a smaller number of routes. Route summarization benefits include smaller routing tables and updates
and containment of networking problems.
